What happens when you mix two of the most recognizable rock bands in history? You get one of the greatest tribute bands of all time: Beatallica. The group came to be back in 2001 by “Krk Hammetson” and “Jaymz Lennfield”. Yes, by far the greatest fake names of all time. They were created originally to participate in a Spoof Fest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin . At the time they didn’t have their name set in stone until a Milwaukee resident got a hold of one of their promo CDs and branded them “Beatallica” .

So do they just play Beatles and Metallica songs? No. Instead of taking the traditional routine of covering popular songs, they decided to mash them up together to form some of the most awesome title tracks ever. “All You Need is Blood”, “Hey Dude”, “A Garage Dayz Nite” and my personal favorite, “The Thing That Should not Let it Be” are just some of the songs in their repertoire.

To avoid any legal troubles, the band originally just gave away all their songs for free in mp3 format. Members of Metallica have stated that they’ve listened to Beatallica and are fans of their music. Awesome!

I first discovered the band back in 2007, but forgot about them until recently. If you are a Beatles and/or Metallica fan then you need to give these guys a listen. It’s comedic, awesome and hardcore all at the same time. You can find their stuff on iTunes for purchase and there are plenty of YouTube clips featuring their songs if you want to get a taste of what they got. They also have a website http://www.beatallica.com/ where you can buy their CD’s straight from them.
